Software Asset Management People
People are key enablers of a Software
Asset Management (SAM) program. It is extremely important that the key people in your organisation are
identified and engaged in your SAM program. These people would cover very broad roles in your organisation
ranging from the CEO to the person that administers an IT system. All of these people and the different groups
they belong to are critical to a SAM program. These people need to become enablers in your program of work. This
will require you to have a high level of communication skills as you engage them. If these people are not
aligned to your SAM program they can detract or disable a program. To ensure these people support your SAM
program you need to develop their understanding in SAM to ensure that their processes and procedures are aligned
and supporting SAM and they themselves become key advocates of SAM. This requirement applies equally to
your own SAM team and to other teams in your organisation.
1. Introduction to Education
Planning
Education planning is the process in
identifying what information is required to be provided, who is it to be provided to, when is it being provided and
how is the information being provided. When these four requirements are identified, cross-check that these
requirements are addressing the identified need for. To request this article click on the

2. Code of
Ethics
A Code of Ethics is a mandatory
requirement in any organisation. These inform staff on what the organisation considers to be acceptable behaviour
and resultant actions. In SAM there are many commercial touch points that require a Code of Ethics to be
established. Adherence to the Code of Ethics will protect both the organisation and the individual, and limit the
risks to both. To request this article click on the appropriate button for members and
